The new Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Duragno do wonders for
the Chrysler Group LLC. So much so that the company's Jefferson North plant
decided to remain open through the normal 2-week summer shutdown. Most
automakers close factories in the 4th Weeks of July to make cars for the new
model year and machine maintenance work form.
However, spokeswoman Jodi Tinson said Chrysler, the plant
that makes the Grand Cherokee and Durango
will remain open through the summer. In the first quarter of 2012, sold 38 000
units of the Jeep Grand Cherokee - an increase of 44 percent. Dodge sold 11,000
units - an increase of 33 percent.
