Following the guilt of the BMW Concept M135i, the German
automaker announced today the production version will hit European streets
soon, but it should never the light of day in the United States - well, at least for
now. So, what BMW has done here? You've got a new BMW 1-Series three-door
hatch, adding an M Performance Chassis prepared with sports suspension,
steering and braking systems. Overall, BMW M styling fused with an aggressive
attitude creates a new front apron, rear apron with a diffuser, 18-inch alloy
wheels, silver mirror caps, sports seats and custom interior.
Power for the BMW M135i comes from a 3.0-liter inline six
cylinder with 6 M Power Performance Twin Turbo technology, up to 320 hp at
5,800 rpm and maximum torque of 332 lb-ft 1300-4500 revolutions per minute. For
a 6-speed manual gearbox, the BMW M135i coupled 0-62 mph in 5.1 seconds and 4.9
seconds with an automatic. While BMW is known to be quite conservative with
their numbers, I'm not a fond of the M135i. As the owner of a BMW 135i 2012
with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, I know that my car is running from 0 to 60
mph in just 4.6 seconds.
