Nissan Compact Sport Concept

The BRZ/FR-S is selling like crazy, it's no surprise other automakers envious look at the sales figures. If we are to believe the rumors that Nissan is no exception. Motor Trend says that it has been said to compete with Toyota and Subaru, Nissan is developing its own sports coupe. It is not the first time we've heard about these plans, though. Already in 2008, was reportedly started after working on a Nissan 240SX successor, but as the economy run by gas, was doing the project.

Nissan has, however, the Compact Sport Concept at the Shanghai Motor Show 2011, pictured above. Looking very much like juke, but a little shorter, and, well, compact. Coincidentally, rumors say that the new plan is to use the jukebox platform. Within the company, as the project is "Mini-Z," despite the fact that it almost certainly is front-wheel drive. This would help, draw the BRZ/FR-S, but would switch off course, those of us with sporting intentions.

Nissan 190-hp, 1.6-liter turbo under the hood was in the concept, and as used in the production car would be fewer horses, but a wider rev range than its competitors from Toyota and Subaru. Motor Trend says the U.S. probably would not have the original target, but China, Japan and Europe would be examined first American buyers still. It may be the source says that the Mini-Z should be close in size to Honda CR-Z and production should start sometime late next year.
