Look closely at these pictures. The van pictured here is a
familiar sight on American streets in the not too distant future to be. Ford
presented the front-wheel drive Transit Adapted to the Birmingham Commercial
Vehicle Show on 24 April and decided to get an early look at the design of the
new model. Although the profile and the overall shape is clearly utilitarian,
the application of the kinetic design of the new global Ford's language, there
is a lot slimmer than its predecessor. To put it quite accurately, that's not
exactly the model that we have in North America, get over the next 18 or so
months, but if the current transit, an indication, the exterior design of front
wheel drive and rear-wheel drive models are essentially identical.
Like its predecessors, the custom transit in a variety of
different configurations for both cargo and offered in the form of the recently
unveiled Tourneo Custom, for passenger duty. It is available in two overall
length 195.7 cm and 210.2 cm. There is a maximum cargo volume of 211.8 cubic
feet easily and suitable legendary (at least in the U.S.) 4x8 foot plywood between the
wheel arches. The payload ranges 1322-3086 pounds depending on configuration.
To further optimize its functionality, the new Transit
Custom a "burden" hatch in the bulkhead separating the passenger
compartment of the trailer so that the implementation of the pipes or ladders,
best-in-class side door height and wide opening, and a versatile roof rack
system with folding arms for less air resistance and fuel consumption. The
bottom tie-down hooks have been shifted for better cleaning and cargo on board.
Finally, given the Custom Transit a new floor liner for easy cleaning and
durability.
System behind this new popular beast of burden is an updated
version of the Ford Duratorq 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel with a
capacity of 100 to 155 hp. Auto stop-start is standard on the V stage models,
Ford claimed, and a general improvement in fuel consumption by 8 percent.
Torque figures are not published in the first version, but the current
2.2-liter Duratorq diesel produces 184-229 lb-ft of torque. Since the PS
numbers have increased from 15 to 25 with the revised engine line-up, expect a
reasonable bump in torque, but also see. Given the 2.2-liter Duratorq diesel
engine in the new T6 Ranger produces 148 hp and 277 lb-ft, expect the sellers
to reach or exceed this level of contention.
To prove the toughness of the new Transit went through the
equivalent of 3,000,000 miles of testing and 250,000 miles with real customers.
The doors were a "slam-cycle" of 250,000 slams that three of the
required number of cars is the brand. Custom Transit will be at Ford's plant in
Kocaeli Turkey, by the way, the same plant that the Transit Connect, which is
sold in the U.S.
market, manufactures is built.
The heavier the load, rear-wheel drive Transit will be seen
later in the year 2012, and are almost identical to the T-Series vans, we will
see in the U.S. Ford has already announced that the 3.5-liter EcoBoost is a
series be of engines and a diesel engine is unique. Even if we do not know for
sure is the leading candidate is a version of the 3.2-liter five-cylinder in
this moment, the Euro-market Transit and heavy head from overseas Ranger. The
engine almost 200 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque sets, the better to meet or exceed
3.2 expect the numbers. In any case, our T-Series provides enough power for
commercial task.
